6 Things Your Client Needs to Know About Getting a Pool

Summer is coming in full force and people all over the country are looking for ways to cool off at home. Sprinklers and slip and slides do the trick for some but many homeowners want to add an inground pool to their home’s landscape.

Having a pool installed can be very daunting project for homeowners. There is a lot at stake and things can go wrong if the make a poor choice during the planning stage.

Here are 6 things your client needs to know when deciding if a swimming pool is a good fit for their home and family.

  1. What type of pool they want. Educate your clients on the pros and cons of fiberglass, concrete or vinyl liner and what you believe will work best for their situation.
  2. The costs of different pool types. Most homeowners only research the initial installation cost of a pool. Be sure to not only price your options for each type of pool you install but give estimates on the yearly and lifetime costs associated.
  3. The construction timeframe and process. Walk your client through your installation process and include what time of year is best for installation as well as the duration of the project from breaking ground to the pool being ready for swimming.
  4. How to decide on size, shape, and design. Review the space your client has for the pool. Discuss any additional features they may want such as patios, tanning ledges or open swim space.
  5. Whether or not they need additional landscaping. Discuss the customers pool landscaping needs even if you are not completing the landscaping project. Understanding their end goal for the pool area will help you get the best outcome for the project.
  6. Why you are the best company for the job. Provide the customer with references and examples of your past work and discuss how you handle challenges when they arise during a project. Review policies for budget and timeline and ask if they have any requirements for your crew while they are on site.

Installing a pool is a big decision for each homeowner. Setting them at ease by educating them on every part of the process will encourage more of your prospects to become customers. Don’t forget that offering financing on large budget projects like pools should be non-negotiable. Offering low monthly payments will be far more appealing to the majority of your prospects than the overall budget cost.
