Do politics affect home improvement spending?

According to a HomeAdvisor report, despite the current political anxiety with the presidential administration, homeowners state that it does not affect their willingness to spend on home improvement projects.  Home Advisor’s Chief Economist said, “Home improvement activity is showing resilience in the face of political shifts. While there is a sharp divide in how homeowners feel about the economy and the current presidential administration, that divide is not affecting their willingness to take on home projects.”

HomeAdvisor’s Findings

  • Millennials and baby boomers are spending the most on average for projects.
  • The West and Northeast regions of the country are spending more due to rising home values giving homeowners equity to help pay for projects.
    1. The top projects in these regions are: bathroom remodels, new roofs and exterior painting.

This is great news for the remodeling industry as the current political environment is causing some anxiety.
