Build Better Relationships with Your Customers

Most business owners and managers know that building and maintaining strong customer relationships are equally important to their company’s success. Going above and beyond with the project can still be a top priority, but customer relationship management is critical.

Here are a few tips on how to develop and foster positive relationships with customers and also potential customers:

  • Connecting the dots.

Ask yourself what you can do for your client or potential client. Do they need a referral for another type of contractor? Do they need advice on what brand of lawn mower or snow blower to get?  Having an “I can help” attitude could result in more business or a referral.

  • Be clear.

Clear communication goes a long way. Make sure you are 100% clear on what your client expects from you and vice versa. In other words, be upfront and make sure everyone is on the same page right from the get go.

  • Number one.

Treat every customer with your best service, no matter how big or small the project is. In the long run, happy clients are more likely refer you or give you a good testimonial online.

  • Tokens of appreciation.

Show your appreciation to your clients. Don’t underestimate the power of something as simple as a handwritten “thank you” card.

All of the items above are very simple things in the hope that you can implement into your process.  Building and maintaining a good relationship with your clients and potential clients  from the get go is one of the keys to your business’ success.
