Wood paneling and shag carpets were highly desirable home improvement options in the 1960s and 1970s, but as time changes, so do home preferences. Keep on top of today’s popular home improvement projects with the most recent resale value and Joy Scores according to reports by the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR®) and Remodeling by JLC.
Top Joy Score for Remodeling Projects
In the 2025 Remodeling Impact Report, the NAR® reported the top Joy Scores (in parenthesis in the list below) based on 806 survey responses designed to gauge how happy homeowners felt about a project after its completion. These may be good projects to highlight in your advertising or to discuss with homeowners who may be open to completing additional projects around their home.
Top Cost Vs. Value
Remodeling by JLC took the average cost of a remodeling project and compared it to the value that project has at resale to determine how much of the project cost is recouped. They shared this information in the 2024 Cost vs. Value Report. Find the top ten projects, with their resale value in parenthesis, below or access the complete list to help your customers understand the value different projects may add to their home, especially if they are considering selling in the next few years.
